Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, stated that he may develop a “alternative phone” if Apple App Store and Google Play remove Twitter from their platforms.
Conservative analyst Liz Wheeler tweeted, “If Apple and Google remove Twitter from their app stores, Elon Musk should develop his own smartphone.”
“Half the country would gladly abandon the partisan iPhone and Android. “If he can build rockets to Mars, a smartphone should be a piece of cake, right?”
Musk answered, “I certainly hope it does not come to that, but if there is no other option, I will create an alternative phone.”
Phil Schiller, the top Apple employee in charge of the company’s App Store, canceled his Twitter account when Elon Musk was appointed CEO of Twitter.
Yoel Roth, the former head of trust and safety at Twitter, stated that the company risks being ejected from Apple and Google’s app stores if it fails to comply with requirements.
Roth stated in a New York Times opinion piece, “Failure to adhere to Apple’s and Google’s guidelines would be catastrophic, risking Twitter’s expulsion from their app stores and making it more difficult for billions of potential users to access Twitter’s services.”
