Ejisu by-election: Inducement may be counter-productive – Global InfoAnalytics

A recent poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics on voter inducement ahead of the upcoming Ejisu by-election has revealed some interesting findings. The survey showed that 32 percent of respondents are willing to accept an inducement but still vote against the candidate offering it. On the other hand, 33 percent indicated that they would accept an inducement and vote for the candidate providing it.

Furthermore, 21 percent of respondents stated that they would reject any form of inducement and vote against the candidate offering it, while 13 percent said they would reject inducements but still vote for the candidate providing them.

The poll also highlighted the preferences of voters who would accept the inducement. Approximately 64% of those who accept inducements intend to vote for Kwabena Boateng of the NPP, while 35% would vote for Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an Independent candidate.

The Opinion Research company warned that flooding the constituency with inducements could pose a significant risk to the Independent candidate. It noted that those who reject inducements and still vote for the candidate are more likely to support Aduomi, with 52% in favor of him and 45% in favor of Boateng.

The poll suggested that offering inducements should be done cautiously, as nearly 61% of voters who accept inducements but vote against the candidate would support Aduomi, while 36% would vote for Boateng.

The residents of the Ejisu constituency are gearing up for the by-election scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, following the passing of their MP, John Ampontuah Kumah. Campaign activities have intensified in the constituency as candidates from the NPP, CPP, LPG, and three Independent Candidates vie for the seat.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has chosen not to participate in the Ejisu by-election, leaving six candidates to compete for the position. The outcome of the poll sheds light on the dynamics of voter behavior and preferences in the upcoming by-election.
