Former Attorney-General Betty Mould-Iddrisu has expressed her belief that the Mahama administration handled the power crisis better than the current New Patriotic Party administration.
She mentioned that the Dumsor experienced under the NDC was not as severe as the ongoing situation under the Akufo-Addo government.
These comments were made during an appearance on TV3’s Hot Issues on Sunday, April 28.
On a similar note, Former Rector of GIMPA, Professor Stephen Adei, stated that the current power outages are not as critical as those experienced under the Mahama government.
However, he warned that if the challenges are not addressed promptly, they could worsen. Adei also suggested some strategies for the government to tackle the energy crisis effectively.
In response, the Director of Communications for the NPP, Richard Ahiagbah, admitted that the power outages in certain areas of the country are frustrating. He attributed the situation to maintenance work being carried out by the ECG but assured that it would soon be completed.
Ahiagbah also mentioned that there is hope for an uninterrupted power supply in the near future under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.
Despite criticism from the NDC regarding the outages, Ahiagbah pointed out that the NDC should not be quick to blame, considering the challenges faced during the ‘real dumsor’ era under the Mahama government.
He emphasized the progress being made in resolving the power crisis and reaffirmed the commitment to providing stable electricity supply moving forward.
