Former President John Dramani Mahama’s special aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for failing to take responsibility for the ongoing power crisis in parts of the country.
Mogtari expressed her disappointment in the government’s refusal to acknowledge their role in the situation, which has led to untold hardships for Ghanaians.
In a statement on her X platform, Mogtari condemned the government’s handling of the energy challenges, stating, “These power outages must be condemned especially when those responsible refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions that have led to the consequences we are experiencing.” She also highlighted other issues such as unemployment, corruption, and land grabbing, attributing them to the current administration.
Mogtari went on to criticize the current government for winning the election on lies and propaganda, only to govern in a similar manner. She described the Akufo Addo/Bawumia administration as the worst in Ghana’s history, claiming that the country deserves better leadership.
Additionally, Edward Bawa, the lawmaker for Bongo, called out the Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Dubik Mahama, for peddling falsehoods about the power crisis. Bawa accused the ECG of lying in a statement where they blamed the outages on faulty transformers, which was proven to be false by the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC).
Bawa insisted that Mahama should not continue in office after approving the misleading statement, which was contradicted by the PURC’s findings. He emphasized the importance of holding public officials accountable for their actions, especially when they impact the lives of citizens.
