Imani Ghana President, Franklin Cudjoe, has responded to a call from actress Yvonne Nelson for a joint protest against the recent power outages in the country.
Yvonne Nelson took to Twitter to appeal to IMANI Ghana for partnership in organizing a massive protest against the Akufo-Addo government, citing the group’s support during a similar protest in 2015 under the John Mahama administration.
In his response, Mr. Cudjoe acknowledged the call from Yvonne Nelson and indicated that IMANI is gearing up for a protest. He mentioned that the group is critical of the government’s decisions and the recent power outages, commonly known as ‘dumsor,’ have exacerbated the situation. However, he highlighted the importance of determining the organization of the protest and considering potential partners at the right time.
The recent power outages have been a source of frustration for many Ghanaians, with calls for a load-shedding timetable to mitigate the impact on businesses. Despite the government denying the return of ‘dumsor,’ the situation persists, leading to criticisms from energy experts regarding its handling of the issue.
