The former Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, has given some words of advice to his successor, Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo.
In a farewell note to the staff, Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang encouraged Osafo-Maafo to pursue his own vision for the Trust and to do things his way in order to succeed.
Addressing Osafo-Maafo, Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang expressed confidence in his abilities, stating, “Do it your way.” He drew inspiration from former Ghanaian UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s response to reporters about what he told his successor, Ban Ki-Moon in 2006.
Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang also called on the staff of SSNIT to offer their full support to Osafo-Maafo as he implements his vision for the Trust. He reassured them that even though he is stepping down, he will remain part of the SSNIT family.
Having spent seven years with the Trust, Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang emphasized his continued connection to the organization. He expressed his commitment to cheering on and supporting Osafo-Maafo as he takes on the mantle of leadership.
Following President Akufo-Addo’s termination of Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang’s appointment, Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo was appointed as the new Director-General of SSNIT. This decision led to a reshuffle within the organization, with Pearl Nana Ama Darko being reassigned to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Juliana Kpedekpo assuming the role of Deputy Director General for Operations and Benefits.
