Famous Ghanaian comic actor, Ras Nene, popularly known as Akabenezer or Dr Likee has hinted at retiring from his acting career. This announcement comes shortly after his return from the UK with his protege, Kyekyeku.
In an interview with blogger Papa Jay, Ras Nene expressed his frustration with some of his protégés, stating that they do not heed his advice. He highlighted that their attitudes have been a source of disappointment for him, leading to his decision to step back from acting.
“I will quit acting in two weeks. I am facing many problems. My children do not listen to any advice. They become arrogant after becoming famous,” Ras Nene disclosed during the interview.
The actor also revealed that he has not posted any content on his personal YouTube channel for over a year, indicating his shift towards focusing on himself. He emphasized the need to prioritize his well-being and addressed the challenges he has faced while working with others in the industry.
While Ras Nene acknowledged the support and dedication of two of his protégés, Aboske and Kompany, who he described as the breadwinners of their families, he made it clear that he would no longer collaborate with other protégés on shooting skits.
This decision was echoed in a tweet shared by X Ghana quoting Ras Nene as saying, “The boys don’t listen. I’m soon retiring from comedy.”
As fans and followers of Ras Nene await further updates on his career decisions, it is evident that the comic actor is taking a step back to prioritize his personal growth and well-being.
