English singer, songwriter, and musician Polly Jean Harvey MBE was born on October 9, 1969. She is well known for her guitar playing and singing, but she is also adept at playing a number of other instruments.

Harvey began her career in 1988 as a vocalist, guitarist, and saxophonist for the neighborhood band Automatic Dlamini. She eventually collaborated with the band’s leader, John Parish, for a while.

After founding the PJ Harvey trio, she began performing under the name PJ Harvey in 1991. The quartet released the studio albums Dry (1992) and Rid of Me before disbanding (1993). After then, Harvey continued to perform alone.

Since 1995, she has released nine studio albums, including collaborations from a wide range of musicians, including Parish, old bandmate Rob Ellis, Mick Harvey, and Eric Drew Feldman, as well as extensive work with record producer Flood.

Does PJ Harvey still perform?

Even though PJ Harvey still performs, there are no PJ Harvey concert events booked for 2023. Harvey is the only artist to have been awarded the Mercury Prize twice, in 2001 and 2011, for Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea (2000), and Let England Shake (2011). She’s also been nominated for eight Brit Awards, seven Grammys, and two more Mercury Prizes.
