Robert George “Bob” Uecker is best known as the radio voice of the Milwaukee Brewers, but he has also become well-known as a national baseball pundit, actor, author, and spokesperson for several businesses. Uecker, who was born in Milwaukee on January 26, 1935, grew up watching the Milwaukee Brewers of the minor league at Borchert Field and wanted to play professional baseball. Uecker was signed by the Milwaukee Braves in 1956, and his major level debut as a catcher came in 1962. Uecker returned to the Atlanta Braves, where he finished his playing career in 1967, after stints with the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies, which included a World Series victory in 1964.

Did Bob Uecker retire from broadcasting?

Uecker, 88, will announce Brewers games on the radio for a total of 52 seasons; he intends to do so until he is unable to do so any more. Even after one of his most difficult winters, he insists that he will know when the time is perfect and that this is not that time.

He is still going strong at 88 years old and in his 52nd season of announcing Brewers home games for WTMJ-AM (620). Despite several recent health scares, he continues to be the lifeblood of Brewers baseball for generations of fans and is renowned for his never-ending supply of comedy, which is frequently self-deprecating.
