DeAndre Hopkins

DeAndre Hopkins is a $40 million dollar net worth American professional football player.

He is best known for his role as a wide receiver for the Houston Texans of the National Football League.

The 29-year-old is a member of the Arizona Cardinals.

On Saturday, June 6 1992, DeAndre Hopkins was born in Central, South Carolina.

He began his career as a wide receiver at D.W. Daniel High School. Hopkins attended Clemson University, where he won the ACC championship in 2011.

Not only is he good-looking, but he’s a talented footballer as well. His outstanding performance on the field earned him numerous other awards throughout his career, including five Pro Bowl selections. He was also named to five All-Pro teams.

In his first season, the American football star performed admirably and was named to the All-Rookie Team of the 2013 season.

In 2016, DeAndre Hopkins was ranked 19th among the top 100 NFL players. In 2017, Hopkins had the most receiving touchdowns in the NFL.

He received an invitation to the second team All-Pro in 2015 and the first team All-Pro in 2017, 2018, and 2019. In 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019, Hopkins was invited to the Pro Bowl.

Contract

In 2013, DeAndre signed a four-year contract with the Texans worth $7.62 million, with $6.18 million guaranteed and a $3.92 million signing bonus. Hopkins agreed to a five-year, $81 million contract with the Texans in 2017, with $49 million guaranteed and a $7.5 million signing bonus.

DeAndre signed a two-year, $54.5 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals on September 8, 2020. DeAndre was the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history at the time of signing. The agreement included $42.75 million in guaranteed funds.

The total vesting guarantee under the contract is $49.4 million. Hopkins’ salary for 2020 and 2021 is guaranteed, and he received a $27.5 million signing bonus.

Hopkins is due a $9 million option bonus for the 2024 season by the 10th day of the 2021 league year.

Hopkins’ 2022 base salary is guaranteed for injury at the time of signing, but it vests to a full guarantee on the fifth day of the 2021 league year.

Hopkins’ contract has void provisions for the year 2024 if he meets certain performance metrics. If Hopkins hits one of four provisions, he will earn the void.

From 2020 to 2023, he can be named to four consecutive All-NFL teams, have 40 or more touchdowns, 400 receptions, or 5,000 receiving yards.

If he wins, he has the option to void the contract 10 days before the start of free agency in 2024. Hopkins finished the 2021 season with 157 receptions, 1,979 yards, and 14 touchdowns.

He was not named to the first team, so that provision is no longer available to him.

Hopkins’ contract includes a no-trade clause, and he cannot be franchised after his contract expires.

The multiple award-wining  wide receiver will be out for the first six games of the season. He was suspended for six games after testing positive for a banned anabolic agent.

Salary per year

Hopkins will miss six games and will lose his salary as a result of his suspension.

He is set to earn $6.65 million in salary, which equates to more than $369,000 per week for the remaining 18 regular-season weeks.

Unfortunately, he will lose more than $2.2 million in salary over the course of six games. The Cardinals will regain that cap space because they will not have to pay that salary.

After his suspension, Hopkins’ salary for the season will be $4.43 million. Hopkins’ cap hit falls from $17.95 million to $15.73 million when the $11.3 million prorated cap hit for his signing bonus and restructure bonus is factored in.

Net worth

Hopkin’s net worth was expected to exceed $40 million this year. He is in the final year of a two-year, $54.5 million contract extension. He came in 33rd on Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid athletes last year.
