A Chicago court has rejected an appeal by R&B singer R. Kelly to overturn his 20-year sentence for child sex abuse.

The ruling was made on April 26, 2024, maintaining his conviction on charges including producing child sexual abuse images and enticing minors for sex.

R. Kelly argued that the Illinois statute of limitations should have been applied, rather than the current law that allows charges while an accuser is still alive. However, the court upheld the sentence, denying his appeal.

The disgraced singer is known for hits like “I Believe I Can Fly,” but his reputation has been tarnished by numerous allegations of sexual misconduct.
