A Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has given approval for a substituted means to be used to serve a notice of DNA test for the son of the late singer Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to his wife, Wumi at her last known address.
This decision by the court came after two unsuccessful attempts by the Sheriff to serve Wunmi the court documents mandating the DNA test on her son.
As a result, the Chief Magistrate directed that Wunmi be served by posting the court documents at her last known address.
Monoplane Odumosu, a member of the legal team representing the Aloba family, revealed this information in a statement. He explained that the court deemed it necessary to ensure Wunmi is aware of the pending suit by posting the court documents at her last known address.
The Aloba family is contesting the paternity of baby Liam and has filed an application before the Family Court to request a DNA test at a recognized laboratory in Lagos.
However, Counsel to Wunmi, Taiwo Olawanle, claimed to be unaware of the court order, stating, “We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it. That is not a problem. But we are not aware of any order.”
Mohbad, who passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, had his body exhumed for an autopsy to determine the cause of his death. The singer had parted ways with his record label, Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, in February 2022.
In light of his death, the Lagos State Police Command established a 13-man special investigation team to delve into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s demise. This led to the arrest of Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, among others.
During the Coroner’s inquiry into Mohbad’s death in March 2024, Dr. Richard Somiari, the Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, mentioned that the results of the autopsy conducted on the deceased would be available in the next three to four weeks.
