The Coalition of Muslim Organisations in Ghana (COMOG) has raised concerns over the actions of Alhaji Ben Abdallah Banda, Coordinator of the Zongo and Inner-City Development .
COMOG accused Mr. Abdallah Banda of using the Muslim community’s name for his personal political gain.
According to a statement released by COMOG Chairman Mohammed Shamsudeen Shaibu, Mr. Abdallah Banda allegedly received food items from the IsraeSecretariatli Ambassador to Ghana on behalf of the Muslim community for the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration. However, COMOG clarified that the Muslim community in Ghana had not requested any gifts of food from the government of Israel.
The statement emphasized that the Muslim community did not expect or receive any items from the Israeli Ambassador for distribution in Ghana. COMOG urged Mr. Abdallah Banda and the Zongo and Inner-city Development Secretariat to refrain from exploiting the name of Muslims for selfish political purposes.
COMOG also criticized the State of Israel and its allies, accusing them of attempting to annihilate Muslims and Islam. The statement advised caution when dealing with Israel, especially in light of the country’s actions in Palestine.
The Coalition called for the return of the food items to the Israeli Ambassador, highlighting the suffering of Muslims in Gaza and other Palestinian territories. COMOG urged all Muslims to boycott any programs organized by Mr. Abdallah Banda until he returned the items and apologized to the Muslim community.
In conclusion, COMOG vowed to resist any attempts by the Israeli government to use Muslims in Ghana to conceal their actions in Palestine. The statement was signed by Mohammed Shamsudeen Shaibu, Chairman of the Media/Research Committee of COMOG.
