Christopher Allen Lloyd, an American actor, was born on October 22, 1938.

Lloyd was born, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Ruth Lloyd, a singer and the sister of San Francisco mayor Roger Lapham, and her lawyer spouse Samuel R. Lloyd Jr. is the youngest of five siblings, four girls and three boys.

He has appeared on stage, in films, and on television a lot since the 1960s. His most well-known performances were as Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy and Jim Ignatowski in the comedy series Taxi (1978–1983), for which he won two Emmy Awards (1985–1990).

Lloyd began his career as an apprentice in summer theaters in Hyannis, Massachusetts, and Mount Kisco, New York. At the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City, he engaged in acting classes with Sanford Meisner when he was 19 years old.

For his performance on the drama series Road to Avonlea, Lloyd was honored with a Primetime Emmy in 1992.
In addition, Lloyd received a Primetime Emmy in 1983 and 1982 for his work on the comedy series Taxi as Outstanding Supporting Actor.
Both the Obie Award for Performance Kaspar in 1973 and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male in Twenty Bucks in 1994 were given to Lloyd.
