The CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Opoku-Ahweneeh Danquah, has resigned.
In a letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Danquah acknowledged his profound respect for the president but highlighted rising problems as the cause for his resignation.
According to Dailyguidenetwork.com, Danquah was forced to resign after a last-ditch bid to keep his position failed.
He has until the end of April 2024 to leave his job, with an acting CEO chosen to take over in the interim.
During his tenure, Danquah led GNPC, with an emphasis on enacting revolutionary policies that benefited Ghana and fostered long-term prosperity.
However, he stated that an atmosphere of disinformation and confusion around these rules made it increasingly difficult for him to carry out his responsibilities.
Despite his efforts to uphold the GNPC’s integrity and aims, Danquah is believed to have admitted that some misconceptions muddled judgment and destroyed confidence.
He stressed the essential need of constant support and confidence from GNPC stakeholders in order for the organization to prosper and achieve its objective.
Danquah expressed appreciation to President Nana Akufo-Addo, citing the president’s astute advice and the backing of the GNPC’s brilliant workforce as reasons for his tenure’s success, according to reports.
He reiterated his continuous commitment to Ghana’s advancement and prosperity, promising to assist with any transition efforts required by the administration.
