Carlos Santana suffered heat exhaustion and dehydration at a concert in Michigan on Tuesday evening and has since recovered.
According to WDIV-TV, medical staff arrived on stage at 10 p.m. local time to attend to Santana, who is still receiving treatment.
Michael Vrionis, the musician’s manager, confirmed the incident to The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.
The 74-year-old guitar legend slumped onstage at Pine Knob Music Theatre (previously DTE Energy Music Theatre), an outdoor amphitheater in Clarkston, some 40 miles northwest of Detroit, according to officials.
Roop Raj, Fox2 Detroit’s nightly anchor, and reporter uploaded a shot of what looks to be Santana receiving medical assistance onstage. “Medical professionals have arrived on stage.” The crowd was requested to pray for him due to a “severe medical” condition,” Raj tweeted.
Santana was brought to the emergency room of the neighboring McLaren Clarkston hospital for observation and has been feeling better, according to Vrionis. “The event scheduled for tomorrow, July 6th, at The Pavilion at Star Lake (previously the S&T Bank Music Park) in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, has been rescheduled,” Santana’s management said.
The music maestro is now on the road for his Miraculous Supernatural 2022 Tour: Santana Plus Earth, Wind & Fire, in support of his 26th and most recent studio album, Blessings, and Miracles, released in 2021.
