English singer-songwriter Bryan Ferry CBE was born on September 26, 1945. His voice has been described as an “elegant, enticing coo.” According to The Independent, David Bowie, who was Ferry’s contemporaries, and Ferry both had an influence on a generation through their music and public personas.

Additionally, he established a distinctive identity and sense of fashion. Peter York described Ferry as “an art piece” that “should hang in the Tate.”

After releasing their debut self-titled album in 1972, the group saw a sharp rise in global recognition. The album’s variety of sounds demonstrated Ferry’s excitement for experimenting with various musical genres.

The distinctive sound and aesthetics that would go on to make Ferry a significant cultural icon over the course of the following ten years were further refined on the band’s second album, For Your Pleasure, released in 1973.
