Bill Pence is one of the people who helped start the Telluride Film Festival. Along with his wife Stella, cinema preservationist James Card, producer Tom Luddy, and the Telluride Council for the Arts and Humanities established the festival in 1974. Pence was one of the festival’s co-founders.
Additionally, he held the positions of co-director and president of the National Film Preserve, the organization that is responsible for the annual operation of the Telluride Film Festival.
