Former representative for Texas’s 16th congressional district Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke interrupted a press conference held by Gov. Greg Abbott and other government officials in the aftermath of the elementary school shooting in a part of the state known as Uvalde.
Beto O’Rourke who run for Senate in 2018 on the ticket of the Democratic party, has long been known as a believer in firearm regulation and background checks. In the wake another major mass shooting in just a matter of weeks, stronger calls have been made to Republican Senators who refuse to vote on a bill to implement some form of firearm regulation.
Beto seems to have taken a strong opposition against Republican Gov. Greg Abbott and interrupted his presser to air his views. Beto is told he is clearly out of line by his approach and is escorted by some security officers.
More discussions and similar confrontations are expected in the coming days and weeks as politicians who advocate for gun control including President Joe Biden, mount the pressure on the opposition to get the bill passed.
