Bayer Leverkusen made history by clinching their first-ever German Bundesliga title, with the help of five outstanding African players who played crucial roles throughout the season.

The Nigerian duo of Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella, Morocco’s Amine Adli, Burkina Faso’s Edmund Tapsoba, and Cote d’Ivoire’s Odilon Kossounou were instrumental in coach Xabi Alonso’s squad.

The team sealed their historic achievement with an impressive 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen, marking a significant milestone for the club. This triumph would not have been possible without the remarkable contributions of their African players.

Amine Adli displayed tenacity in 20 matches and scored two goals, while Victor Boniface showcased his scoring prowess with 11 goals in 18 appearances. Nathan Tella, a midfielder, added five goals in his 20 appearances, providing essential support to the team’s attack.

In defense, Edmund Tapsoba and Odilon Kossounou provided solidity and leadership, anchoring Leverkusen’s backline throughout the season. Tapsoba made 23 appearances, demonstrating consistency, while Kossounou’s defensive skills were complemented by a crucial goal contribution.

The combination of African talent and Leverkusen’s strategic approach under Xabi Alonso propelled the team to new heights. Their unbeaten streak of 43 matches culminated in dethroning Bayern Munich as Bundesliga champions after an 11-year reign.

Bayer Leverkusen’s African stars are now focused on additional success in the Europa League quarter-final against West Ham and the German cup final against Kaiserslautern. The club’s African contingent has left a lasting impact on the Bundesliga, and their success is a testament to their talent and hard work.
