The New Patriotic Party (NPP) may face a difficult challenge in winning the 2024 elections, according to private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu. Kpebu pointed out that over the past seven years, the party has overseen a gradual erosion of the country’s economic gains.
During a discussion on Key Points, Kpebu highlighted concerns about the NPP’s economic performance, particularly questioning the effectiveness of Vice President Bawumia’s economic strategies. He pointed to rising fuel prices and inflation rates as evidence of the party’s shortcomings.
Recent polling data from Global Info Analytics showed former President Mahama of the NDC leading in popularity over Dr. Bawumia. Mahama received over 54% of the votes, while Bawumia garnered 34%. Other candidates, such as Alan Kyerematen and Nana Kwame Bediako, also received votes in the poll.
Despite these results, critics from the NPP have downplayed the significance of the poll, citing concerns about the methodology used to collect data. Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the NPP, raised issues about the clarity of the survey questions and the potential for misinterpretation by respondents.
As the political landscape continues to evolve leading up to the 2024 elections, it is clear that both the NPP and NDC will need to address key concerns and communicate their vision effectively to win over voters.
