In response to President Nana Akufo-Addo’s anti-LGBTQI+ bill, pressure organization AriseGhana has declared that it will stage a demonstration.
The group claims that it will mobilize the populace for activity, lobbying, and protest in March 2024.
President Akufo-Addo’s resistance to signing a declaration that was approved by Parliament on February 28, 2024, was questioned by Arise Ghana in a statement endorsed by the convener, Rex Omar.
Those found guilty under the anti-gay bill might spend six months to three years in prison, while those who sponsored and promoted the act could spend three to five years behind bars.
The statement emphasized the necessity of addressing the LGBTQI+ issue and the significance of maintaining fundamental national values.
As a result, they criticized the government’s financial management, arguing that worries about possible aid losses as a result of the Bill’s passing create issues with how large-scale revenues and loans taken out during the government’s time were managed.
In order to safeguard important family values and advance the interests of the country, the group has pledged to increase pressure on the government to ratify the Bill.
