The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has officially announced the dates for this year’s ban on drumming and noise-making.
According to a press release issued by the AMA, the ban will be in effect from Monday, 6th May to Thursday, 6th June 2024.
To ensure peace, harmony, and national security during this period, the Assembly has outlined specific guidelines for the public to follow:
1. Churches must conduct their activities within their premises without the use of musical instruments.
2. The use of loudspeakers outside of churches, mosques, and pubs is prohibited, and roadside evangelists are required to cease their activities.
3. Religious bodies and Traditional Authorities are urged to show respect for each other and prevent their followers from making derogatory remarks about each other’s beliefs.
4. The Ga Traditional Council has also banned funeral rites and related activities.
5. Only the identified task force, comprised of AMA personnel, the Ghana Police Service, and representatives from the Traditional Councils, are authorized to enforce the noise abatement measures in the metropolis.
The AMA has called on all residents, towns, and villages within the Ga Traditional Area to cooperate and adhere to the directive during this period. To address any concerns or for further information regarding the ban, individuals can contact the following hotlines provided by the AMA.
The public is reminded to comply with these guidelines for a peaceful and incident-free Nmaa Dumↄ period. Accra, live in, love it!
