On Monday, February 19, 2024, Mohammed Amin Adam, the recently appointed Minister of Finance, held his first official meeting with ministry employees.
After joining the Ministry of Finance team as part of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s recent cabinet reorganization, Amin Adam didn’t take long to get to know them.
Amin Adam began his tenure with initiative when he was seen having conversations with the leadership of the ministry in a post published by the Office of the Finance Minister.
As a show of support, outgoing Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta gave his successor his full support and asked Ministry employees to stand with Amin Adam to ensure that important programs—like the IMF-ECF program designed to promote economic growth and transformation—are carried out successfully.
Additionally, Mr. Ofori-Atta expressed his appreciation to the ministry’s employees for their hard work and dedication to excellence.
With an eye toward “Ghana Beyond Aid,” he emphasized the significance of maintaining professionalism, ethics, efficiency, and responsiveness in their jobs.
Though Amin Adam’s appointment was welcomed, several stakeholders are worried about how it may affect the ministry’s functioning and how soon it came about.
