President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has canceled Daniel Noble Awumey’s appointment as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Hohoe Municipal Assembly.
The firing was communicated by formal mail dated Monday, March 25, 2024.
The notification, written by O.B Amoah, Minister of State at the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, cited constitutional and statutory laws as justification for the move.
The letter, which cited Article 243 (3) (b) of the Constitution and Section 20 (3) (b) of the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936), explained why Awuley’s appointment was terminated.
Furthermore, the letter directed Awumey to delegate his responsibilities to the Regional Minister, who would oversee the Municipal Assembly until a new Municipal Chief Executive is approved.
In conjunction with this decision, President Akufo-Addo has named Francis Fiakpui as the successor to the empty office.
“…His Excellency the President of the Republic has terminated your appointment as Municipal Chief Executive for the Hohoe Municipal Assembly.
“Consequently, you are to hand over your duties to the Hon. Regional Minister who will exercise oversight responsibility of the Municipal Assembly until the confirmation of a new Municipal Chief Executive,” the letter, which was dated March 25, 2024, stated.
