Ghanaian swimmer Abeiku Jackson has outstandingly delivered a bronze medal for Ghana in the men’s 100-metre butterfly swimming competition at the ongoing and current African tournament games.
It was noted that that was the second exceptional medal for the said 24-year-old professional swimmer in this year’s African Games after having had other attainments such as silver in the men’s 50-metre butterfly last Sunday.
Apparently, Abeiku was known to have a hardworking personality in his real life, as in athletics. Meanwhile, during the entire men’s 100-meter butterfly final, which was known to have been held yesterday, there seemed to be a misunderstanding, which led the officials to take a drastic decision to give swimmers the exceptional option to retake the final or keep their previous time for the said race.
Abeiku Jackson, however, decided to give himself the chance and re-swim the final, where he achieved the greatest record of 53.80s, while well-known Egypt’s Nassr Abdalla and South Africa’s Jarden Easton followed sequentially with gold and silver, respectively, keeping their real initial time known earlier.
Precisely, and despite not surpassing the rimes recorded by Egypt’s Nassr and the South African professional Easton, the two-time Ghanaian Olympic professional settled for the bronze medal exceptionally.
In addition, Jackson will, however, be looking to win more medals for Ghana and his nation in other expected swimming events and competitions, including the men’s 50m backstroke, the 200m freestyle, and above all, the 4×100 freestyle relay.
Abeikku Jackson was the second winner of the medals at the ongoing African Games, with the first being Winnifred Ntumi, who also won a gold and two other respected silver medals in weightlifting.
