The New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has received praise from the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association for his pledge to “introduce a very simple, citizen and business-friendly flat tax regime” if elected.

In a statement, the association asked its members to support the idea so that, should the presidential candidate win in the upcoming elections in December, it is carried out.

Part of the statement said, “The Association believes this initiative will play a crucial role in safeguarding the interests of spare parts dealerships nationwide. We view it as highly commendable.”

The new flat rate tax is expected to drastically lower the cost of spare parts, which will provide much-needed relief to commercial drivers who frequently include these costs in their transport fares, the statement continued.

The suggestion was made by Dr. Bawumia on Wednesday, February 7, during a speech at the University of Professional Studies in Accra. It was a component of his presidential platform.

The proposal for a flat rate tax on imports of spare parts by Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is commended by the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association.

The visionary idea of Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, to impose a flat rate tax on the importation of spare parts into the nation is much appreciated by the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association.

The Association thinks this is a great effort and that it will be very important in protecting the interests of spare parts stores around the country.

As an apolitical group committed to the growth and improvement of the dealership business for spare parts, we fully embrace and back Dr. Bawumia’s suggestion.

We look forward to this policy being implemented in a timely manner, provided that on December 7, 2024, the New Patriotic Party is successful in ending the eight-year political curse.

A flat-rate tax on imported spare parts will be implemented, the NPP’s vice president, who also serves as the party’s flagbearer, declared at a forum on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Accra.

The association is dedicated to working in tandem with pertinent parties to guarantee the smooth execution of this advantageous tax arrangement.

The cost of spare parts is expected to drop dramatically as a result of the proposed flat rate tax, giving commercial drivers who usually include these costs in transportation costs—much-needed relief.

As a result, the general public’s commuter load will be lessened, resulting in a more economical and sustainable transportation system.

We demand that the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association unite in support of the implementation of a flat rate tax on the importation of spare parts.

By banding together in favor of this project, we can all help the spare parts dealership sector flourish and grow while promoting favorable changes in the overall state of the economy.

The Association is grateful to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia for his vision and dedication to the industry’s well-being, and we anticipate that this policy will have a favorable effect on both our business and the country at large.
