The Government recently launched the Performance Tracker, a platform designed to promote transparency and accountability in the implementation of infrastructure projects across Ghana.
This initiative was met with significant interest and scrutiny from citizens, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the information provided.
In a tweet, the Ministry of Information expressed appreciation for the public’s engagement with the Performance Tracker. Within 48 hours of its launch, it was discovered that 67 entries were mistakenly included on the list of projects featured on the tracker. This prompt identification of errors underscores the importance of citizen involvement in monitoring and verifying government initiatives.
During the launch of the Performance Tracker, Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, highlighted its role in addressing long-standing concerns about the accuracy and reliability of project presentations. He emphasized the need to move away from artist’s impressions and provide real-time data on infrastructure projects.
The tracker currently showcases over 13,000 projects nationwide and is seen as an upgraded version of the Delivery Tracker introduced by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in 2020. This tool will play a crucial role in tracking the progress of various projects and holding government accountable for their implementation.
