The Majority in Parliament has called on Ghanaians to reject the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December elections, claiming that the opposition party lacks innovative solutions to the country’s challenges.
During a press briefing in Accra on Friday, April 19, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader, expressed concerns about a potential leadership crisis within the NDC if they were to win the elections. He pointed out that former President John Dramani Mahama would be limited to a single term if elected, which could reduce the sense of urgency in governance.
Afenyo-Markin suggested that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia offers a more promising future for Ghana, as his leadership aligns more closely with the country’s needs. He emphasized the importance of stable government and focus, stating that Dr. Bawumia’s vision is more beneficial for the nation.
The Effutu MP criticized Mahama’s track record, highlighting the lack of urgency that could result from a single-term presidency. He argued that a victory for Mahama would lead to internal struggles within the NDC to determine the next leader, ultimately causing a government crisis from day one.
In conclusion, Afenyo-Markin reiterated that Dr. Bawumia offers a better future for Ghana than John Mahama, emphasizing the need for stability and effective governance in the country.
