The West African Examination Council(WAEC) has announced emphatically yesterday July(16) that over 190,000 students were going to miss University admission due to failure in the English Language caused by the use of ‘pidgin’ and shorthands.

The Head of Public Affairs for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Agnes Teye-Cudjoe said that the continuous use of pidgin language by students in their final English exams massively affected their results.

With English together with Mathematics being one of the 2 compulsory subjects to be passed for any form of admission to a tertiary institute, failure in any meant students will have to re-sit them.
