Yvette Mooney, a Beloved Channel Seven newsreader passed away following a long battle with an illness.

She began her career as a journalist before rising through the ranks and becoming an anchor, finally gaining a presenting slot on the current affairs show Today Tonight.

She was 58.

Mooney died from cancer.

The mother-of-one then co-hosted Perth at Five with Basil Zempilas, but she quit journalism in 2008 after being diagnosed with cancer.

Yvette, who is survived by her husband Phil and son Andre, worked for Channel Seven in  Perth for almost two decades.

Simon Reeve, a former Sunrise star, also paid homage to Yvette, calling her “one of the most beautiful people” he’s ever worked with.

“The best of our hometown and state.” He described her as “egoless, adored by everybody, and a great journalist and presenter.”
