On February 8, 2024, Yuri Borzov, a 70-year-old Russian graphic artist, architect, and former drummer for Mashina Vremeni, passed away. A founding member of the group known as the “Time Machine,” Borzov was also its drummer for a while. From 1969 till 1971, he was the group’s drummer.

Preliminary data indicates that he suffered a head injury and fell unwell. After some time, the musician’s family became aware of a rapid decline in his health and requested an ambulance.

Borzov was born in Leningrad in 1953. He started out in the arts as a drummer with the group The Kids.
In 1969, he established a group and suggested calling it Time Machines, or simply “Time Machine,” alongside Andrei Makarevich, who the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Justice had designated as a foreign agent.
The musician was involved in the first album’s recording. Up until 1972, drummer Borzov played with the group. After that, he joined the group “Guys who start playing when a striped hippopotamus crosses the Zambezi River” led by Alexey Romanov; the group disbanded a year later.
