The Youth Organizers of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) have taken action following the recent theft of biometric voter registration (BVR) kits from the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) headquarters.
In an official letter to the EC, Jude Balma and Mark Ewusi Arkoh, as convenors of Election Watch Ghana, have requested information on the BVR kits to be utilized in the upcoming limited registration exercise. They are asking for the serial numbers of all the BVR kits, the number of registration centers where they will be used, and for the serial numbers to be printed on all registration printouts for authentication purposes.
According to the Youth Organizers, this request is driven by their dedication to ensuring that Ghana’s electoral processes adhere to the highest standards and widely accepted practices.
The theft of the BVR devices has raised concerns about the integrity and security of the upcoming limited registration exercise. It is crucial for the EC to provide transparency and accountability in addressing this issue to maintain public trust in the electoral system.
