Young Thug is the stage name of Jeffery Lamar Williams, an American rapper, singer, and songwriter born on August 16, 1991. His songs have an impact on the contemporary sound of hip-hop and trap music, making him a prominent personality of his time. I Came from Nothing, the first of a series of independent mixtapes released by Thug in 2011, introduced his distinctive vocal and dress sense.
He joined Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records at the beginning of 2013, and later that year, to much acclaim, he released his label’s first mixtape, 1017 Thug.
Young Thug debuted as a guest artist on rapper TruRoyal’s song “She Can Go” in 2010. Young Thug caught the attention of fellow Atlanta-based rapper Gucci Mane after releasing the first three installments of his mixtape series I Came from Nothing in 2011 and 2012. Gucci Mane went on to sign Young Thug to his label 1017 Brick Squad Records, an Asylum/Atlantic imprint, in 2013.
Thug debuted on the label with his fourth mixtape, 1017 Thug. The mixtape received positive feedback from music critics, who praised it for its unique style. 1017 Thug appeared on several year-end lists in 2013, including Pitchfork’s Albums of the Year: Honorable Mention and Complex’s The 50 Best Albums of 2013.
Young Thug’s girlfriend and children
Young Thug has six children, three sons, and three daughters, from four different women. At the age of 17, he became a father. In April 2015, he married Jerrika Karlae, a swimsuit designer whose mother worked for the late Young Dolph.
Young Thug’s parents and siblings
Young Thug is the tenth of eleven children born in Atlanta. They each have two biological fathers. His sister and he are the two youngest siblings.
Young Thug is said to have lost one of his brothers when he was a child. His late brother was murdered in front of their home.
YSL signed the rapper’s brother Unfoonk, who is also a rapper. By April 2021, he had appeared on one of the album Slime Language 2’s tracks, Real.
The names of his father and mother are unknown.
