The nominees for the 2022 Grammy have been announced. The list, which the Recording Academy announced on Tuesday, November 23, has been full of snubs and surprises.
Like every year, the Recording Academy presented nominees list that the public disagrees with. Their nomination procedure has been questioned by many.
Despite this, many deserving artistes received nods. American star Jon Batiste received the highest nods; 11 nominations. He is closely followed by Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R., who have eight nods each. Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo are next with seven each.
However, a few hours after the nominees were announced, many questioned the absence of late rapper Young Dolph. The nominations list came out, and his name was there.
Though he didn’t put in extraordinary work in the year under review, many people suggested that a posthumous award to honour him would have been the best.
The Chicago-native, who was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee, on November 17, 2021, collaborated with Key Glock on “Aspen”. And although the song peaked at 29 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. However, he was snubbed at Grammy 2022.
