Yoda was the only sonof a manufacturing family when he was born on March 31, 1934, in Tokyo, Japan.
Yoda began his legal studies at Keio University after completing his high school education. Yoda met Edward Ugast, 20th Century Fox’s then-general manager of East Asia, during this time. Yoda was urged by Ugast to pursue an acting career. Yoda dropped out of school and went to the US, where he enrolled at the University of Southern California in August 1958 to become a movie producer.
