The opening ceremony of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire will include popular Nigerian singer Yemi Alade as the main act. Alade shared a social media post on Thursday, January 11, 2024, expressing her happiness and gratitude for the opportunity.
In a provocative speech, Alade emphasized the importance of prayer and manifestation in achieving one’s objectives. She revealed that, ever since 2016, she had dreamed of performing at football ceremonies in front of millions of fans and hundreds of dancers at a stadium. Seven years later, she is pleased to inform that she will be performing at AFCON. She sees this as the fulfillment of a long-held dream and a great honor.
Celebrating her recent success, the singer hailed it as a dream come true. Alade remarked on the importance of prayer while disclosing it has been her long-time passion to perform at a football stadium in the midst of a large crowd.
The singer said on X (previously Twitter) that she had been praying for this chance for years.
Yemi Alade wrote, “I can’t buttress the importance of prayer and speaking into existence your heart desires,” calling this a “dream come true.” Since 2016, I had wished to perform at the stadium for football celebrations surrounded by 100’s of dancers and millions of people.
A month has passed since the official AFCON 2023 theme song, “Akwaaba,” was made available.
Yemi Alade, Mohamed Ramadan, and Magic System, an Ivory Coast band, are featured in the song. The AFCON competition, meanwhile, is scheduled to start on Saturday, January 13, 2024. On Sunday, February 11, the month-long celebration will come to a close.
