A Canadian actress who is of Jamaican descent, Yanna McIntosh was born in 1970 and is occasionally given the name Yanna MacIntosh.
McIntosh studied acting for theatrical productions at Harvard University’s Institute for Advanced Theater Training and the University of Toronto. She imparted her theatrical knowledge to students at Humber College and the National Theatre School of Canada.

She has received six Dora Mavor Moore Award nominations for Best Actress for her stage work. She won it twice, once for Florence Gibson’s Belle and once for Athol Fugard’s Valley Song. McIntosh was the first person ever to win the Toronto Theatre Critics’ Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in Ruined in 2011.
