Indonesian judge and writer who served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia from 1982 to 2000 M. Yahya Harahap is dead. He passed away at the age of 92 on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 03.30 WIB.

However, Yahya Harahap was born in Parau Sorat, Sipirok, South Tapanuli , North Sumatra on December 18 1934. He received a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Faculty of Law, University of North Sumatra in 1960.
Yahya Harahap began his career as a judge at the Tebing Tinggi District Court in 1961. Two years later, he was promoted to Chairman of the Tebing Tinggi District Court. In 1968, he was transferred to become Deputy Chairman of the Medan District Court.
