Since March 2021, Xavier Becerra, a politician and lawyer from the United States who was born on January 26, 1958, has held the position of secretary of health and human services for the country.
In 1976, he received his high school diploma from C.K. McClatchy High School in the city’s core. Prior to receiving his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Stanford University in 1980, he spent the years 1978 and 1979 studying abroad at the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain, becoming the first member of his family to attend college.
From January 2017 until March 2021, Becerra served as the attorney general of California. From 1993 to 2017, he served as the US House of Representatives representative for Downtown Los Angeles. From 2013 until 2017, Democrat Becerra served as the leader of the House Democratic Caucus.
