Wyndham Clark’s mom obituary: What happened to Lise Clark?

Lise Clark was born Lise Gabrielle Dominique Thevenet Clark, and she died on Friday, August 2, 2013, at her home in Greenwood Village, Colorado. She was 55 years old at the time of her death. Lise was born December 30, 1957, in Albany, New York, the 6th of nine children of her parents Stanley Edward Thevenet and Marie Therese “Poppy” Hulsebosch. She graduated from St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, NM in 1975 and from New Mexico State University in 1979.

Lise was crowned Miss New Mexico USA, representing her state in the Miss USA pageant in 1981. Shortly after that she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in advertising and marketing before beginning her Mary Kay career in 1984. When Lise began her Mary Kay business, she was so enthusiastic and so determined, she laughingly referred to herself as a “bulldozer,” or “a maniac with a mission.”

Within two years, Lise became an Independent Sales Director and achieved Independent National Sales Director in 2002. She invested her energy and enthusiasm in the leaders of her National area, to “enroll, empower, enrich and encourage women in their dreams.”

Lise got married to her husband Robert Randall Clark on April 1, 1989, in Los Angeles, California and a year later they had their first child named Kaitlin in 1990. In 1992, Lise and her family moved to Denver with the flexibility of Lise’s Mary Kay income to start a new life in the Rocky Mountains. Shortly thereafter, their son Wyndham was born in December of 1993 and a few years later their youngest son Brendan was born in June 1997.

Six months after the birth of their last child, Lise was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer. After two years of chemo, radiation, and various health restrictions, Lise was cancer free; a Cancer Survivor!

On December 21, 2012, Lise was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast cancer; her cancer was back and had been lying hidden, dormant, for years. Because of the vastness of cancer, radiation, and surgery were not an option. With new technology that previously had not been available 14 years ago, Lise found out she was BRCA1+ Triple Negative, a form of genetic cancer and a carrier. She was not able to survive it and later pass away.
