Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiko, chairman of the Ashanti Regional NPP, has appeared before the Kumasi Traditional Council over alleged derogatory remarks directed at the Asantehene.

The comments were made during the NPP’s vetting of parliamentary aspirants ahead of the recently concluded primaries.

The Chairman, affectionately known as Wontumi, was accompanied by NPP Party Chairman Stephen Ntim, majority leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, and other government officials.

During the hearing, Kokosohene Nana Kwaku Duah, who brought the case, testified before the traditional council as to what happened during the vetting process.

As for Bernard Antwi Boasiko, he denied saying anything negative about Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II. He maintained that the accusation misrepresented his message and was therefore unfair.

This comes after a brawl between Mr. Antwi Boasiako and Nana Kwaku Dua, the Kokosohene, occurred during the recent screening of candidates for the legislature of the Ashanti Region.

The traditional council invited Chairman Wontumi to testify at a hearing, but he turned it down because of health issues. Nevertheless, he denied the charges.

After the NPP national leadership appeared before the Council to request an extension, they were told to ensure that Chairman Wontumi appeared within a week.

A few hours later, the company unconditionally apologized to the KTC in response to a well-known lawyer’s derogatory comments regarding Nananom’s integrity on Wontumi Media’s media platforms.

A different news article on www.wontumionline.com claims that the Kumasi Traditional Council was ordered to cease deliberating the case by the Asantehene. Our Manhyia Palace sources, however, played down the report.
