Traditional leaders in Bodada, in the Buem Jasikan municipality of the Oti Region, have been urged by the local women to put aside their differences and live in harmony in order to promote development in the area.
The women claim that the Opamwa clan’s recent chieftaincy conflict, which arose following Nana Aburam Akpandja V’s installation and outdooring as the Paramount chief for the Buem Traditional Council, is impeding progress.
Speaking with Adom News, Patience Smile, the head of Advocate of Peace for Buem, claimed that certain anonymous individuals who are not affiliated with any group wish to cause chaos in Buem.
She said that in order to ensure long-term peace, unity, and prosperity in Buem, the people of Bodada and Buem are prepared to accept the decision made by the House of Chiefs and Hohoe High Court regarding the chieftaincy problem.
She issued a warning, saying that the Bodada residents and the Women Advocate Group would not put up with any factions or groups of people claiming to be the representatives of the Buem Traditional Council breaking the peace in the community.
According to Nana Boatemaa III Ankobeahemaa of the Buem Traditional Council, their developmental requirements are being impacted by the recent misunderstandings that some individual chiefs are causing.
To avoid exacerbating the situation, the mother of the Queen summoned Elizabeth Kessewa Adjonor, the Municipal Chief Executive, to counsel all involved parties to adhere to the court’s orders.
As represented by the group of brooms linked together as the Buem Traditional Council’s emblem of authority, Nana Boatemaa also pleaded for the Opamwa clan, chiefs, elders, and the good people of Buem to put aside their differences and live in harmony.
