Sales of women’s underwear have been plummeting in several Ghanaian markets, with retailers expressing confusion over the decline. According to a report by UTV cited by GhanaWeb, vendors are attributing the drop in sales to a growing trend among women to forgo wearing underwear.

Various factors have been speculated to contribute to this trend, including the digital era and economic constraints. One vendor mentioned that the rising cost of underwear may be discouraging women from purchasing them as frequently as before. Additionally, the presence of numerous retailers, both physical and online, could also be impacting sales.

A video shared on Twitter by UTV Ghana highlighted the concerns of underwear sellers regarding the low patronage, pointing out that women choosing not to wear panties may be a significant factor. Retailers are noticing a shift in consumer behavior and are adapting to meet the changing demands of their customers.
