The corpse of a lady who went overboard from a cruise ship returning to Florida early Thursday was recovered by the Coast Guard.

According to the Coast Guard’s Southeast region, a 36-year-old woman was discovered 18 miles off the coast of Port Canaveral. She was on the MSC Meraviglia, which MSC Cruises owns and operates.

According to a passenger onboard, the ship was heading from Ocean Cay in the Bahamas to Port Canaveral when the woman jumped. However, that information has yet to be confirmed by our sources.

According to an MSC representative, “Unfortunately, despite the quick rescue, the passenger died as a result of his injuries.

We are fully assisting authorities in their investigation of this matter. We are deeply saddened by this incident and extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and those who have been affected.”

“The crew conducted an emergency search and rescue operation, assisted by the US Coast Guard with boats and a helicopter,” MSC Cruises stated. “Unfortunately, despite the quick rescue operation, the passenger died. We are fully cooperating with authorities as they examine this problem.”

The Coast Guard is looking into why the woman fell as to if truly she jumped as the passenger claims or if she fell by mistake.
