Tragically, Kwabena Kwakye, also loved as Wofa KK, a well-known presenter at Accra’s Oman 107.1FM owned by Kencity Media, has passed away.
It is said that he had shown up for work today but became unwell, which ultimately caused his premature death.
During Adom FM’s Midday News, Adom News Editor Akwasi Agyemang broke the devastating news.
Respected in the broadcasting industry, Kwakye made a substantial contribution to Oman FM’s programming, especially on programs like “Boiling Point” and “National Agenda,” where he frequently took over for regular host Fiifi Boafo.
He worked as a presidential and parliamentary correspondent for Net2 TV before joining Oman FM.
During his career, Kwakye worked with notable people like Hon. K.T. Hammond, the current Trade Minister, Mr. Kwabena Agyapong, Professor Kofi Agyekum, and Professor Kwesi Yankah.
He also contributed significantly to Kenneth Agyapong’s campaign for president inside the New Patriotic Party (NPP), albeit he was ultimately defeated by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
Under the direction of Freddie Blay, a former acting national chairperson of the NPP, President Akufo-Addo appointed Kwabena Kwakye to the board of the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) in 2017.
It is expected that Kwakye’s family and Kencity Media, under the direction of Kenneth Agyapong, will make official statements in recognition of Kwakye’s memories and services to Ghanaian politics and the broadcasting profession once word of his passing spreads.
