The maiden edition of the Ghana Football Awards got started with a bang yesterday July 8 as past and present individuals in the football industry were rewarded at the event hosted at the Marriot Hotel in Accra.

The event which was hosted in the backdrop of the mounting mess Ghana football has been through the past couple of weeks was well attended by dignitaries, journalists and Ghanaian football stars past and present.

Below is the full list of award winners at the first edition of the event dedicated to honoring football men and women of this country.

Ghana Footballer of the year :

Thomas Partey (Athletico Madrid)

Coach of the Year:

Yusif Abubakar (Aduana Stars)

Living Legends Awards:

Tony Baffoe

Home-based player of the year:

Thomas Abbey (Ex-Hearts Of Oak)

Team of the year:

Aduana Stars

Goalkeeper of the Year:

Joseph Addo (Aduana Stars)

Best Foreign Player of the Year:

 Thomas Partey (Athletico Madrid, Spain)

Thumbs-Up Award (In recognition of humanitarian services and giving back to the society.):

Asamoah Gyan

Women’s Player of the Year:

Priscilla Adubea (Black Princesses and Ampem Darkoa Ladies.)

Rising Star of the year:

 Majeed Ashimeru (FC Saint Gallen)

Best Goal of the year:

Joseph Mensah (AC Horsens)
