William Silva de Carvalho (born 7 April 1992) is a Portuguese-born professional football player who plays for both the Portugal national team and La Liga club Real Betis as a defensive midfielder.
Although he may potentially be used as a central midfielder or a central defender, Carvalho typically plays as a defensive midfielder. He was praised for his commanding physique and was well-known for his passing range and accuracy, ability to manage a game, and poise on the field.
Carvalho, who was born in Luanda, emigrated to Portugal when he was a young child. Both his uncle Afonso and his grandfather Praia were football players who competed for the Angolan team Progresso Associaço do Sambizanga.
