Three years ago, in March 2020, at the age of 21, Ryan Grantham shot his 64-year-old mother, Barbara Anne Waite. He shot her in the back of her head while she was playing piano.
He rehearsed and filmed the act with a G-Pro. He also allegedly plotted to kill Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau at his Rideau Cottage residence. He took three guns, ammunition, camping supplies, and 12 Molotov cocktails to the prime minister’s residence.
After traveling 200 kilometers, he considered more violent acts at Vancouver’s Lions Gate Bridge or Simon Fraser University, where he was a student at the time. However, he drove to a Vancouver police station where he confessed: “I killed my mother.”

The actor was sentenced to life in prison on September 21, 2022. He is not eligible for parole for 14 years.
