On Friday, Lauryn Hill was released from a federal jail, and if she has her way, she will return to the music industry’s forefront.
However, she still has limitations, including a year of supervised probation and three months of house confinement.
Additionally, she had been told to pay fines and back taxes. According to Hill’s attorney Nathan Hochman, she has since completed her tax payment.
Hochman verified that his client had been released from the prison in western Connecticut and that she had begun her home confinement and probation on Friday.
According to Hochman, the singer was released a few days sooner than anticipated due to a number of factors, “including good behavior.”
Why was Lauryn Hill locked up?
According to federal prison records, the Grammy-winning musician was freed from an all-female, low-security institution in Danbury, Connecticut.
She had spent the previous three months in prison due to unpaid federal income taxes.
